What is "Baja"?
The University of Waterloo Baja team is an educational engineering project embarked upon by dedicated students from all disciplines. Since 1985, the UW Baja SAE team design and build off-road vehicles to race in SAE sanctioned events.

A Failed Success/ A Successful Failure
The Baja project and team was definitely THE MOST MEMORABLE university experience. With so many 4:00 AMs, followed by so many 8:30AM welding sessions. This physically and mentally straining experience strengthened me through "work hardening".
An 11 month construction schedule was reduced to 8 month. Travel distance increased x10.
I had to utilize my previously accumulated machining knowledge from Formula SAE to build a Baja car FAST.

Rear suspension re-design & build: 2 days
Finding enough funding was hard enough. Then the CAD/USD exchange rate weaked by nearly 10%... that is equivalent to losing almost $1500!
